Live Oak residents who crave the classic San Antonio taste of a Burger Boy meal will soon be able to cure their hankerings closer to home. Burger Boy's first location outside of San Antonio proper is opening in a few months.

The San Antonio brand of burgers has revved up its expansion from the original St. Mary's Strip restaurant to four outposts in recent years. In November 2021, Burger Boy confirmed a Live Oak location was in the works, but details were sparse. The original opening date was planned for early 2022.

On Friday, May 20, Burger Boy updated fans on social media. In the post, the restaurant showed the exterior of the building, still mid-construction, and said the project is almost complete.

"We are only a month or two from the opening of our Pat Booker location," the post reads.

Live Oak's first Burger Boy is expected to be open by the summer. You'll be able to find it at 8060 Pat Booker.

Burger Boy started expanding from its flagship, which opened on St. Mary's Street in 1985, in 2018. Original owner Carl Bates sold the restaurant to a group of investors in 2017. A year later, the second location opened at 9334 Potranco Road.

The restaurant is known for made-to-order favorites like the Working Man, a special which includes a half-pound double Burger Boy with half a pound of fries and a drink.
