There will be even more burger options on Bandera by this weekend. Wayback Burgers, a chain with locations scattered worldwide, is celebrating a third San Antonio location near Helotes on Sunday, May 21.

The company launched in Delaware, providing a style of service that centers on what was offered during a "simpler time," the website says. Since opening the first location in 1991, Wayback Burgers has expanded to 34 U.S. states and international sites like Brunei, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, Pakistan, The Netherlands, Ireland, Japan, and Manitoba, Canada. The first San Antonio installment opened in January 2020. A second restaurant opened in Universal City soon after.

Ricardo and Jorge Bonilla are the owners of the upcoming location at 11707 Bandera Road. According to the announcement, the Bonillas have 16 years of food experience of running a local pizza chain to support their new venture.

Wayback's menu includes house specialties like the cheeeesy and double bacon. There's also a classic with two beef patties and American cheese on buttered bread. Wayback also has three customizable options. Chicken sandwiches and tenders are also on the menu.

To celebrate the grand opening, the restaurant will have limited time specials and giveaways. The classic burgers will be available that day for $3.99. There will also be a DJ, free face-painting, and balloon art. There's also a chance to win a 55-inch Samsung Smart TV, free burgers for a year, and gift cards.

Fifteen percent of sales made during the grand opening will benefit the Peacock Boys and Girls Club.

Wayback Burgers is open daily from 10:30 a.m. to 11 p.m., according to its website.
