San Antonio's newest nightclub is banking on a big opening week by bringing in well-known DJ. The new space, called 1902, is opening on November 20 in the former Sunset Station Train Depot (now known as the Espee) at 1174 E Commerce Street, according to a news release.

Great care was taken to rehabilitate the features of the hall's grand staircase, its 16-foot windows, and vaulted ceilings. The hope was to preserve the building's Spanish Mission revival architecture, originally commissioned by architect Daniel J. Patterson.

"1902 Nightclub is a labor of love for myself and our partners," says general manager Victor Valenzuela in the news release. "The atmosphere, drinks and service will rival any nightclub in any city around the world."

The new club, which takes its name from the year the train station opened, promises high-energy house music to kick off its grand opening weekend. DJ Steve Aoki is playing a set on November 24.

There is a $15 cover charge at the door, and a strict dress code will be enforced. The dress code is described as "dress to impress," so cocktail attire for women and business attire for men. Shorts, sandals, hats, sweat pants, and workout clothes will not be allowed.
