Let's start off by saying this: We are on the home team's side, so don't shoot the messenger. But despite a meteoric rise on to national football rankings, the support of the entire city, and breaking all sorts of records, naysayers still aren't convinced UTSA has chance of earning what would be their first championship on Friday.

As we've done for previous games throughout UTSA's stellar season, we looked around the sports world to see what pundits are saying about the San Antonio team. Throughout the fall we've seen shining predictions for the Roadrunners, which all came true until November 27 when UNT handed UTSA their first loss of the season. (For the record, the NCAA predicted that L.)

We're hoping it's not a repeat tonight, because these predictions aren't too hot for UTSA when they take on the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers on Friday, December 3.

Here's hoping we can all look back and laugh at this list.

The Good - College Football News

The USA Today affiliate explained how each team could win, although it credited the Hilltoppers for "rolling up" after losing to UTSA the last time they met on October 9. The CFN prediction says "everything is clicking at the right time" for WKU as they are "getting better, sharper and defensively stronger." Still, CFN expects Roadrunners will find their balance after tumbling to UNT last week while WKU will make more mistakes.

The Bad - UTSA Rivals

UTSA Rivals is a source for all things meep meep. The site pulled together a roundtable of staff members to share their predictions. Despite being graduates and fans of the Roadrunners, the team was split on whether or not the night will end in a confetti shower for San Antonio. Some relied on the energy of the Alamodome crowd to help the team (keep in mind the in-arena announcer must remain neutral since it's a conference game).

The Ugly - CBS

NCAA writer Tom Fornelli says it "hurts" to predict a loss for UTSA but says he's "not that confident" the team can pull off a win against Western Kentucky, which has been on the championship stage two times before.

"This game will be different since it's in the Alamodome, but it's hard to go against this Western Kentucky offense with the way the UTSA defense has been performing," he adds.

The Rude - ESPN

ESPN went for the jugular during its college football championship week roundup. The national sports outlet didn't predict the game, but says Roadrunners versus Hilltoppers should still be on your viewing plate, if only as a "small side."

"This game doesn't have the same flair that it would have had if UTSA had not lost to North Texas last week and maintained a perfect season," ESPN writer Harry Lyles Jr. writes.
